Mission

The operating unit assists patients with hematological diseases, including leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, anemia, thrombocytopenia, coagulation defects – at our 24h hemophilia center, and myeloproliferative disease. The Unit’s activities include:

  • diagnosis and treatment of hematological diseases, both in hospital and outpatient settings;
  • hematology counseling for hospitalized patients;
  • laboratory diagnostics;
  • morphological characterization under optical microscope of:
    • peripheral blood
    • cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
    • bone marrow
  • molecular diagnostics, in particular genetic diagnosis of congenital coagulation defects F8 and F9 (hemophilia A and B, respectively);
  • cellular immunodiagnostics (flow cytometry);
  • level II coagulation diagnostics and prenatal diagnosis of coagulation defects.
